Professor Hasan Kömürcügil, a faculty member in the Faculty of Engineering at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), has achieved significant international success with his scientific work. He has been appointed Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics, one of the most respected publications in the field.
Professor Dr. Kömürcügil continued his scientific contributions by attending the 51st Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IECON), held in Madrid from October 14-17, 2025. At the conference, he presented his paper, "A New Three-Level Reduced Switch-Count Three-Phase F-type Rectifier and Its Control Without Current Sensing."
The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) Executive Committee (AdCom) meeting held during the same event oversaw the society's technical activities and publications. During this meeting, the appointment of Editor-in-Chief for the journals run by the society was discussed.
Prof. Dr. Hasan Kömürcügil was nominated for the Editor-in-Chief position of the "IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics." Following a vote, he received the highest number of votes from five candidates and was appointed to this important position. The appointment will be effective as of January 2026.
The "IEEE Journal of Emerging and Selected Topics in Industrial Electronics," which has an impact factor of 4, publishes internationally significant articles on the topics of Power, Energy, Industrial Applications, and Robotics.
Prof. Dr. Kömürcügil's achievement significantly contributes to the scientific prestige of EMU and the country. He has also successfully served as Associate Editor of the "IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics" journal since 2018.
