EMU STUDENTS' TEAM "ASHINA" INVITED TO TEKNOFEST 2025

The ASHINA Teknofest Team, comprised of students from Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), was honored by being invited to the Teknofest Air Defense Systems Competition, to be held in Istanbul from September 17–21, 2025. Having won first place in last year's Teknofest Flying Car Simulation Competition, the ASHINA team aims to successfully represent EMU and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in this year's Air Defense Systems Competition, one of Teknofest's most comprehensive categories, organized in partnership with ASELSAN across 52 main categories.Advanced Among the Top 65 Teams The team successfully completed the Preliminary Design Report (CDR) phase of the competition, placing them among the top 250 teams.They then passed the Critical Design Report (CDR) phase, advancing to the top 65 teams.















Finally, having successfully completed the System Capability Video phase, the team was invited to the grand event in Istanbul as a finalist.
About the Project
The project developed by the ASHINA team is an autonomous air defense system with target detection. The system plays a crucial role in ensuring national security and has features that could be used against aerial targets such as drones in the future.

The team's statement reads, "Participating in the competition was a decision we made in September 2024. We completed our planning and analysis until February. We completed the ÖTR phase in March and the KTR phase in May. In August, we uploaded our System Capability Video to YouTube. We will be at the finals in Istanbul from September 17-21, 2025. From March to the end of June, we conducted our work and tests in the CMPE227 laboratories of our university's EMU Computer Engineering Department."
