From: Atilla Elçi (DAÜ) [atilla.elci@emu.edu.tr] Sent: Çarşamba 23 Haziran 2004 16:43 To: Atilla Elci Subject: [cmpe418grp1] Project presentations. Importance: High Hi, As expected, Department has announced that all makeups and CmpE 401 project presentations will take place on Monday 28 June. Consequently, we can not hold 418 project presentation sessions on the 28th as I announced long ago. Therefore, I propose to delay presentations by one day. Thus: 1. CmpE 418 project report will be due on Monday, June 28th (that is, no change). DO NOT FORGET TO INSERT THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT and securely attach the documentation CD. I will try review them by next day. 2. Presentations will take place on Tuesday, June 29th. All students are welcome to stay and listen to presentation of others. In deed, doing so may prove quite instructive. 3. Presentations will take place in front of a workstation in Lab 137 according to the schedule to announced shortly. The schedule is expected to be VERY TIGHT without any slackness at all, so it's imperative to try observe your allotted time slot. 4. You will need to do advance preparation for smooth transition from project to project. For this purpose, latest Monday 28th, install your application on a workstation in Lab 137 and on Tuesday morning check to make sure all is in order. 5. You're familiar with Lab 137; all workstations have VS.NET, IIS and office installed. You need to connect to Oxygen to access SQL Server. Should you have any problem with software systems, Rahim ÇETİNEL will be at hand. Additionally, concerning lab issues, you can contact M. ASSAF and R. KILIÇ. Should you encounter insurmountable problems, you're also welcome to contact me! 6. To quote from the Term Project Guide document: "5. Student will present the completed project. Presentation will require at least an oral explanation of issues such as project configuration, technologies used, etc. and demonstration of project execution". Accordingly, prepare a few pages of ppt presentation introducing the project and your part (contribution), technologies used, application configuration (parts), and screen shots of sample runs. Your presentation should last not more than 8 minutes. Presentation will be graded. 7. As part of your project presentation you're expected to do a short (2-4 minutes) live demo. Your demo will be graded. 8. As part of your project presentation, you're application code will be examined and you may be asked to explain parts of it. This examination part will be graded. 9. Lab assistants ASSAF and KILIÇ will be present and may be performing parts of grading mentioned above. 10. You're welcome to carry in your own computer to do the presentation. In any case, you're responsible of attaching it to the network and making work properly although we'll be at hand to help out. Sorry to note that I can not entertain any excuses. 11. This is your only chance to do it right. Sorry to say that there is no make up for and repetition of project presentation. Should you have any concerns regarding the procedure outlined above, please contact me as soon as possible. I wish you all the best. İyi günler dilerim. Atilla Elçi
