Short Biography

From 1983 to 1992, I worked as a Research Assistant and Lecturer in METU (EEE Department). From January 1993 to January 1994, I was a visiting scholar in Ohio State University, Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department, where I worked on the parallelization of VLSI routing algorithms. From February 1994 to January 1995, I worked as an Instructor in METU (EEE Department) and from February 1995, I joined Eastern Mediterranean University, Computer Engineering Department as an Assistant Professor. From March 1996 to September 1998, I acted as the Assistant Chairman of EMU - Computer Engineering Department. I took place in foundation and administration committees of EMU-Technopark and EMU Advanced Technology Research and Development Center. My current research interests are evolutionary computation, nature-inspired computing, neural networks, classifier systems, and face recognition. There are seven M.S. and two Ph.D. theses completed under my supervision and currently I am  supervising two M.S. and one Ph.D. theses. I was also the head of TAINN 2001 conference organizing committee.
